FROST was the winner in the Craven League last weekend -- with only six matches being completed.
Many grounds were frozen solid, but the conditions may have given Oxenhope's title hopes a boost as their closest rivals, Skipton LMS, were beaten on a rutted pitch. They lost 1-0 at home to Embsay.
Grindleton put all their energy into preparing the pitch for their match against Grassington, but ran out steam when play started, going down 6-2.
In the relegation battle at Carleton, Skipton Bulldogs took an early led then gifted the game to the home club. Bulldogs were eventually beaten 4-1.
In Division One Hellifield started the brighter team against Bronte Wanderers Reserves in Division One and soon established a 2-0 lead which they continued to hold at half time.
Tactical changes at the break saw a much improved Bronte side show real commitment in the second half with substitutes Joe Blacka and Joel Gallagher proving a thorn in the Hellifield side. Everyone pushed forward leaving just three at the back and Simon Croke quickly got a goal back following a solo run.
Daniel Blakeley scored the equaliser and Hellifield defended strongly and a draw looked on the cards until Joe Blacka popped up in the closing minutes to grab the winner, and secure the points for Bronte after a great second half display.
Silsden Athletic visited Gargrave and were a goal down in the first few minutes and by half time were trailing 3-0. The second half saw a more positive approach from Silsden and while they could not manage a goal themselves they denied Gargrave any further score with a creditable defensive display.
Division two saw Cross Hills Reserves and Keighley Lifts Reserves share the points in a goalless draw, and Gargrave closed the gap on the leaders by three points, beating Silsden Athletic 3-0.
n Steeton went on a goal spree against Dudley Hill Athletic in Division One of the West Riding County Amateur League. Danny Gaudiosi led the way with a hat-trick backed up by a double strike from Mick Jarvis. Further goals were scored by James Gill and Rob Henson as they ran out 7-2 winners.
