A Bradford curry restaurant has spiced up our cancer research campaign by raising a massive £10,000.
The cash for the Telegraph & Argus Bradford Can... Cancer Research Appeal was collected by Nawaab through promotions, donations and a special dinner.
The restaurant has been backing the appeal, which is raising £1 million for cancer research in Bradford, since July last year.
Its drive began when generous waiting staff donated a week's tips to the cause. Then the restaurant ran a series of special offers.
And in November a charity dinner and auction boosted the cause even further.
Mohammed Ejaz, general manager of the restaurant in Manor Row, said they were thrilled with their achievement.
Nawaab's fundraising drive also coincides with its 15th anniversary celebrations. The first Nawaab restaurant was established in Bradford and now there are 11 branches.
Last week the latest addition to the chain - a 350-seat restaurant with banqueting suite in Levenshulme, Manchester - opened its doors with a glittering launch party.
Appeal manager Tish Burton said: "We are overjoyed with the amazing £10,000 total raised by Nawaab in Bradford and would like to thank the staff and supporters for all their hard work."
Meanwhile, two schools have added to the appeal total.
Burley Woodhead Church of England Primary School at Sandholme Drive raised £301 through collecting at their Christmas carol service.
And a group of 22 sixth-form girls from St Joseph's Catholic College in Cunliffe Road raised £89 by through the Christmas and Eid Festival Caf.
The Bradford Can... Appeal is aiming to raise £1 million for research into anti-cancer drugs at Bradford University and clinical trials on patients at Bradford Royal Infirmary.
So far £865,000 has been collected and when the £1 million target is hit, Cancer Research UK will boost the appeal by another £5 million.
