A dad who was sacked after taking time off following the death of his baby son has been offered his job back.
Brian Beaton, 23, couldn't cope after finding seven-month-old Ethan dead in his cot from blood poisoning.
He was sacked by his bosses at T&D packaging, of Bowling Back Lane, Bradford, while he was off grieving.
But they called him to a meeting and, as a result, reinstated him straight away.
They agreed to give him sick leave until Monday, pending his return.
Mr Beaton, of Kingswood Place, Great Horton, says although he is physically OK for work he is still troubled mentally.
He said: "I am pleased to have got my job back because I don't think I should have lost it in the first place.
"I shall wait until Monday and see how I feel.
"I am still suffering from flashbacks to that night. It is something no dad should have to go through."
He had only been in his job as a labourer at the company for two days when tragedy struck.
Baby Ethan, as reported in the Telegraph & Argus, was found dead in his cot in November.
The tot had been suffering from sickness and a cold and had been closely watched by his parents throughout the night.
But the bug struck suddenly, without leaving a tell-tale rash on the skin, and he was pronounced dead on arrival at Bradford Royal Infirmary. A post-mortem revealed he had died from meningococcal septicaemia, the same bug which causes the most deadly form of meningitis.
Mr Beaton had tried to go back to work but flashbacks had troubled him.
He claimed he had gone off sick with his bosses' approval and was stunned when he got his letter of termination just before Christmas.
Chris Edwards, operations director at T&D, said about the decision to reinstate him: "I am pleased that it is all sorted out."
