The Bees are expecting their biggest crowd of the season tomorrow as they bid to reach the quarter-finals of the Powergen Intermediate Cup.

"We are hopeful that there will be over 500 there," said Bradford & Bingley RFC secretary Steve Oddy of the sixth-round clash against Midlands Division One Leicester Lions (2.00).

"There is a genuine buzz around Bingley regarding the match, and that was helped by last weekend's player reunion."

The Bees' chances have been improved by them being able to field their leading second row partnership of Rob Woodhead and Barry Clark.

Director of Rugby Geoff Cooke said: "Rob has been missing for a couple of weeks because of work commitments, and he was absent for a spell before Christmas with a bad ankle injury.

"We are pretty much at full strength, but we know very little about the opposition. We are expecting them to have a pretty big pack, like Dunstablians from the same division who we beat in the last round, and they score a lot of their tries from line-outs near the opposition line."

Bradford Salem are also just three rounds away from a Twickenham final - this time in the Powergen Junior Vase.

They are expecting a tight clash at Shay Lane against Malton & Norton (2.15), who are a division above, and have therefore included Andy Dalton on the wing.

"I don't think there will be many points in it and we need a reliable goal-kicker, and Andy fits the bill," explained Salem's Neil Klenk, who has moved from wing to centre to cover the expected loss of Tony Fella to Dewsbury RLFC.

Salem have also opted for Matt Child at scrum half instead of Terry Franklin in anticipation of a heavy pitch, and key front-rower Simon Davies is back after recovering from a shoulder injury.

Klenk added: "We have, as we used to do in the days when Steve Dunn coached us when we won at Twickenham in 1991 and 1992, had the opposition watched. And our former player, Andy gannon, reported back to us at training last night."

Elsewhere in the league, unchanged Yorkshire Division Two leaders Keighley reckon their home clash against Ilkley is a potential banana skin.

"They always seem to raise their game against us, but we won a tough tussle at their place 26-22 in October," said Keighley's press officer Bob Swift.

Relegation-threatened Baildon, buoyed by their superb 13-9 victory at second-placed Doncaster Phoenix in Yorkshire Division Four, hope they don't suffer a reaction when they take on Wakefield Cougars, who are sixth, at jenny Lane.

Wibsey, a division below, could also do with a victory, but they might need the bounce of the ball if they are to beat table-topping Stanley Rodillians in Yorkshire Division Five.

Home coach Ian Gregson said: "We have opted for Rob Greenwood in the centre because it gives him more opportunities with ball in hand, and Richard King is at full back because he clears his lines well."

Wibsey are again without Neil Carter because of work commitments, and fellow pack member Mark Ryan is still suspended.
