Wilsden Youth Club has given itself a facelift. The management is determined to get away from the traditional coffee bar image because it thinks there should be more to a youth club than that. There is a new leader in charge - Mr. John Aslin, who has new ideas and concepts.

The secondary modern school did not appear to be serving the purpose assigned to it by the designers of the 1944 Education Act, said Mr JW Spivey, new president of Huddersfield District Teachers' Association at the annual meeting at Huddersfield last night. "At the moment, it is the school to get out of if you are in it, and the one to avoid if you have not entered," he said.
