MARATHON man Paul Fenn must have run his way into the local record books after clocking up one marathon, nine half marathons and dozens of 10km or 10-mile road races in just one year.
He covered 1,000 miles between October 2001 and October 2002, two thirds of them in competitive races - picking up 40 T-shirts and 20 commemorative medals along the way.
Four charities will benefit from Paul's achievements through the £3,500 he collected in sponsorship.
He chose to give £1,000 to the Paediatric Unit at Airedale Hospital because his daughter was cared for there when she was born prematurely. The Children's Society will receive £1,100 because Paul has a friend who works with terminally ill children through a scheme supported by the charity.
Another £400 will go to the British Heart Foundation, chosen because his father had a quadruple heart by-pass, and the Craven Clear Campaign will get £1,000 because it is the chosen charity of his employers, Homeloan Management.
"I am really pleased I did it," said Paul, of Skipton. "When I finished I felt a real sense of achievement."
But it was not all easy going. Paul said the first 500 miles were relatively easy, the next 250 were difficult but the final 250 were a real struggle as he had picked up some niggling injuries.
Paul, who is sales and development manager at Homeloan in Skipton, has vowed to continue with his fundraising but has said his next events will be one-off challenges.
