TEENAGE moto-cross star Chris Hay is aiming to take a big step up in the biking world after recording his first championship win.
Chris, 14, a pupil at South Craven School, is back riding a Honda machine after buying the bike which won last year's championship. And the new machine has already given his confidence a major boost.
He has collected over 30 trophies and was named Youth Motorcycle Sport Association's Sportsman of the Year.
He finished fourth overall in the YMSA series and was second in the Vale MX series.
This year he aims to take in more rounds of the national championships in the 'Big Wheel 85' category.
He already hast the support of sponsors Simon's Designs, Shipley Carpets and Les Hobson Gas Engineers, but is looking for more backing for his national campaign.
Chris already has the support of his family, with his 12-year-old brother, Aaron, also riding while his father is mechanic and his mother is a marshall at races. They are even planning their holidays around the sport and plan to travel to Ireland to take part national championship races.
Anyone prepared to give Chris their backing can make contact on 01535-658365.
