Masked robbers wielding nine-inch bladed knives stole cash during the latest raid on a Bradford burger bar.

Two men stormed the McDonalds Restaurant in Rooley Lane as staff were closing-up at about 10.35pm on Saturday.

Terrified workers fled into a store room at the sight of the men who ransacked the cash till and safe before making off.

Police said the raid had been over in minutes.

It was just the latest in a string of armed robberies - many of which have involved guns - at the restaurant.

It is understood McDonalds has worked with police in an effort to step up security at the outlet, which is close to the M606 motorway.

Detective Sergeant Scott Bisset, of Bradford South CID, said he wanted to hear from witnesses who may have seen a red Escort car, believed to have been used as the getaway vehicle.

He said: "Although no-one has been injured in this raid, the staff have been very shocked as it was a nasty attack. We are very keen to hear from any witnesses."

Det Sgt Bisset confirmed there had been "several" similar incidents at the restaurant in recent years and admitted it might be seen as a "soft touch" for criminals because the good access to the M606 made it easy to escape.

Both suspects were wearing balaclavas and were described as 5ft 10ins to 6ft 2ins tall and of slim build. They were both wearing all blue clothing.
