A SEVEN-YEAR-OLD girl from Skyreholme is preparing to scale the heights of Ben Nevis to raise money to help her primary school.
Lois Nelson, of Ridge End Cottage, is a pupil at Burnsall School, which has launched an appeal to raise £20,000 to build an extension.
Lois, who is a keen walker, is just one of many pupils who are willing to put in extra effort to the benefit of the school community.
Her parents, Rebecca and Phill, told the Herald: "As Lois is a fantastic walker, she felt a sponsored walk was most appropriate and Ben Nevis seemed the obvious challenge."
Lois, who is training with her dad, will probably do the walk in late May or early June.
She will follow the tourist track, which is both the easiest and safest route. It is nine miles long with an ascent of 1,300 metres.
Anyone wishing to sponsor Lois should contact Phill Nelson at Ridge End Cottage, Skyreholme, Skipton, tel 01756 720214.
