Children at a Burley-in-Wharfe-dale school have been giving a warm welcome to their new head teacher.
Julie Speight took over in charge of Burley & Woodhead C of E Primary on January 6, succeeding former head Sue Adsett who had spent nine years in the post.
Mrs Speight, 47, was previously based in East Morton, near Keighley, but is no stranger to Burley - as she explained.
"It's quite weird really but my first teaching appointment was actually at Burley Middle School many years ago, so I know the village quite well.
"Everyone has been very welcoming and although I have just started we have been working really hard on a school improvement plan.
"My immediate aim, though, is just to get to know all the pupils, parents and the community well. There is a very warm and active community in Burley and I look forward to the school strengthening its ties with the village."
