Silsden Under-14s pulled off a 4-1 win over Bingley to reach the quarter-final of the West Riding County Cup.
Lee McGowan opened the scoring and Sam Dowgill volleyed the second from outside the box. Bingley pulled one back to set up a tense last 10 minutes. Clark Greenwood scored Silsden's third and five minutes from time John Butcher added the fourth from a free kick.
Luke Scott was Silsden's man of the match and there were also good performances from Jonas Bartle, Charles Clegg, Ross Croad and Hamish Munro.
Silsden now face a home tie in the quarter final against Wakefield side Thornes on Sunday, February 2, and hope to see plenty of support for the local team.
Silsden U10s A drew 1-1 at home to Cross Roads A who took the lead until Simon Todd volleyed home an equaliser. Defender Alastair Halliday was man of the match.
Silsden U10s B won 2-0 at home to Cross Roads B with goals from Jack Price and man of the match Jake Ingham.
Long Lee Under-10s drew 1-1 with Bolton Woods in a game of end to end football. Woods took an early lead but on the next attack Long Lee forced a corner and Thomas Arthurs smashed home a screamer from outside the box. Man of the match Callum Jones pulled off some great saves and there were good performances from Sean Redman, Ben Whiteoak and Sean Quinlan in a great team game.
Long Lee Uner-12s produced some great passing football to overcome title rivals Menston. James Smail opened the scoring followed by a double from James bailey. Despite a heavy pitch the Keighley side battled hard and were rewarded with two further goals from Zak Peat and Sam Rooke. Oliver Haughey was named man of the match and the entire team deserved praise for an impressive performance.
Long Lee Under-11s had to dig deep to see off a strong challenge from Sandy Lane in their top of the table clash. Jimmy Marshall opened the scoring for the Keighley side and James Francis made it 2-0 at the break. Sandy Lane pulled on back but good defensive work from R J Gaughan and Niall Burke prevented further goals. Super sub Josh Huntley saw off three challenges before blasting home the winner to make it 3-1. James Francis collected the match point.
Long Lee Under-14s were also in action at Menston, going down 4-1. Callum Flaherty scored the consolation goal.
Oakworth Under-8s A ended a run of three draws to beat Heaton 4-0. They were 2-09 up at half time thanks to two goals from Jackson Rouse. Bradley Fox scored after the re-start and Rouse completed his hat-trick from the spot. Wayne Hunnebell and Daniel Meegan shared the man of the match award.
Oakworth Under-8s B pulled off another great win, beating Gomersal 2-0. Both goals were scored by man of the match Ryan McDermot.
Oakworth Under-10s beat Dudley Hill 2-1 in a tough match at Bronte. Two first half goals from Tom Hudson put Oaks in command, but Dudley Hill stepped up the pressure in the second half. Heroic defending from Joe Alvey, Jack Akky and Luke Chapman kept them in control and goalkeeper Thomas Allmark was named man of the match. Dudley scored a late consolation effort.
Oakworth Under-10s B suffered their second defeat of the season, going down 3-0 to a very determined Dudley Hill side. Oakworth struggled to find their form in the first half and went into the break 2-0 down. In the second half Oakworth improved their performance but could not score. Greig Hudson was man of the match and there were good debut performances from Ryan Turnbull and Chris Lynch
A depleted Oakbank Under-7s took on Bolton Woods and slid to a 7-0 defeat despite a strong effort. Man of the match was goal keeper Luke Reece in his first match
Crossflatts Under-11s beat Wilsden 2-1 with both teams playing some excellent football. Two gaols from Max Whitley in the first half gave Crossflatts the lead. Wilsden pressed hard in the second half and deservedly pulled a goal back. Michael Pearson and Danny Howard worked hard in midfield and Danny Howard was man of the match.
Sutton Rascals Under-9s lost 3-1 to Cullingworth/Harden after drawing 1-1 at the break. In the second half luck Cullingwoth pushed forward and scored twice. Luke Jackson scored for the Rascals and Joshua Fleetwood was named man of the match for his work in defence.
Wilsden Under-11s suffered at the hands of Crossflatts, loosing 2-1 in an entertaining game. Both sides produced some exciting football. After some neat passing through midfield William Stead scored a second half goal for Wilsden, but they could not score an equaliser.
Oakworth Under-13s beat Shipley 3-0 to get back to winning ways. In a good all round performance goals came from Andrew Fox, Glen Wallbank and man of the match Adam Spencer.
Oakworth Under-15s beat Trawden 5-0 in a game played in terrible conditions. The Oakworth side produced a great all round team performance despite the conditions.
n Long Lee Junior Girls are in action tomorrow (Saturday) when they play a friendly fixture against Hirst Wood of Shipley, starting at 9.45.
The girls are from 6 - 14 years of age and train on Friday evenings from 5.30pm and on Saturday mornings from 10am with both sessions at Marley Stadium. The club welcomes players of all abilities and anyone wanting more information should contact club secretary Kath Rickaby on 01535-212957.
