A TOTAL of 45 goals were scored in five games as the Keighley and Aire Wharfe League sprang back to life following the New Year break and cancellations because of the weather.
The game between the Variety Club and Three Horses saw the ball in the back of the net 11 times. After a closely fought first half the New Variety Club were leading 3-2 and they took command after the break, blasting in five more goals to one from the Three Horses as they secured an 8-3 victory.
Scorers for the New Variety Club were Adam Ackroyd (2), Joe Baker (2), Liam Graham (2) and M Watson (2).
Bingley Town ran out worthy winners as they played host to Silsden Athletic, but it was not until the second half that they really got to grips with the game. After clocking up two goals in the first half without reply, they scored four in the second period while Athletic could only manage a consolation effort.
Bingley scorers were J Hindle, Richard Wade, S Hind , P Dawson and Andy Nelson (2).
The match between Cavendish and Wilsden Villagers was a 10-goal thriller with the hosts going in 3-1 down at the break.
Things only got worse for Cavendish after the break when they conceded three more goals in the first 15 minutes. The Cavendish side at last woke up and scored three goals in the last 20 minutes but conceded another to go down 7-3.
Bocking, who are tipped for top honours, were too strong for Shoulder of Mutton, scoring three in the first half and four in the second period without reply. Garry Bins scored five in the 7-0 victory with other goals coming from Darren Midgley and Dave Bainbridge.
Fleece Cullingworth travelled to BCA United where both teams were committed to attacking football. The hosts opened the scoring after 10 minutes and went on to add a further three before the break with Fleece scoring twice to go in 4-2 down at half time.
In the second period BCA clocked up a further four goals and although Fleece created a string of clear-cut chances they could not find the back of the net. Pat Poole jnr scored both goals for Fleece. BCA scorers were man of the match Jonal Ali (3) Awaal, Serag, Hallard andK Hartas. Karl Bennett was man of the match for Fleece.
