SOUTH CRAVEN School are through to round five of the Daily Mail Under 18 Vase thanks to a 20-3 win at Keswick School.
Coach Dave Royles has called on the experience of Wharfedale's first team coach Hedley Verity to help out with coaching, and it certainly looks to be paying dividends, with the likes of No.8 Robert Baldwin in the North of England squad and scrum half Richard Parker with Leeds Tykes.
The Cross Hills school has built up strong links with Keighley Rugby Union Club and with Wharfedale, and in the previous round of the competition beat Skipton's Ermysted's Grammar School 21-3.
"Rugby is very popular at the school," said Royles. "Over the last several years it has got stronger and stronger and we now have over 100 games a season.
"Our Under-15s have reached the quarter-finals of the Yorkshire Schools Rugby League Cup, so things are looking bright for the future.
"I will probably lose six or seven players for next season, but it's pleasing to know we have some talent coming through."
South Craven will now face the winners of the tie between King Edward VI Morpeth and Harrogate Grammar School.
