The Bulls set the tone for their homecoming season with an awesome display of attacking rugby at the Jungle.

New boys Karl Pratt and Shontayne Hape made valuable contributions as Bradford ran eight tries past Castleford in an impressive first run out of the year.

And four other youngsters made first-team debuts as the Bulls rampaged to a 44-16 victory in front of their noisy travelling support.

Skipper Robbie Paul and Lee Radford ran in a brace each as the visitors built a commanding 24-6 lead by the break.

Even with multiple replacements in the second half, the Bulls remained in command displaying both power and clever handling skills in a hit-out which delighted coach Brian Noble.

"I'm absolutely delighted with our performance," said Noble, who admitted in the week that the result was of only secondary importance.

"We looked to be doing all the right things and putting into practice what we have been working on in pre-season.

"There was a lot of enthusiasm out there and it was very pleasing for a first hit out of the year.

"It would be wrong to single anyone out, I am delighted

with all their contributions."

The Bulls roared to a 18-0 lead within 13 minutes and never looked back on a night where all 22 players were involved.

Lesley Vainikolo, who made his Bulls debut in this game last year, was taken off towards the end as a precaution after picking up an ankle knock.

The Volcano combined well on the left wing with new boy Hape, who Noble described afterwards as a "special talent".

The 20-year-old, who joined the Bulls from the Warriors in the off-season, made a positive start to his career in Britain, showing quick hands and pace of either foot in a solid debut.

"It is good to get started with a big win like that," said Hape, who was encouraged by the "loud roar" of the visiting fans.

"I'm really looking forward to the real season starting now."
