Nicky Law wants to safeguard City's survival fight by bringing in two more players for the rest of the campaign.
The Bantams gave their safety hopes a huge shot in the arm with Saturday's 2-1 win at fellow strugglers Grimsby.
City moved above Walsall into 19th spot and are now seven points clear of the drop zone.
But Law is hoping for the green light to bolster a squad which is again starting to look stretched.
Andy Tod today began his loan at Dundee United, Paul Evans is at Blackpool and with Jamie Lawrence's future still up in the air, numbers are shrinking.
Top scorer Andy Gray and Peter Atherton are also banned for next weekend's first home game of the year against Ipswich.
Law said: "I've got two loans left and I've got to be careful because there is not a great deal of money.
"But I've tried to generate some cash the only way I can. Getting Paul Evans out for a month and with Tody going back to Scotland, hopefully that will free enough money so I can get a couple of players in on three-month deals to the end of the season.
"I need them to be that long because otherwise I'm going to be in the same position in a month's time with no loans left."
Walsall are expected to make their move for Lawrence this week although Law does not believe it is cut and dried.
He said: "I spoke to their manager last week and he was under the impression it wouldn't happen because they couldn't finance the deal. But obviously they've won in the FA Cup but hopefully they won't come back with a bit more money.
"I understand from the financial implications that Jamie may have to go although from my point of view I don't want to lose him."
City's fourth away win of the season lifted them to 31 points, 19 short of the safety target Law has set.
"We knew the size of the Grimsby game and it was a massive win," he said.
"You know this lot won't lay down and die.
"We had wave after wave of attacks but never resorted to route one and just hitting it long.
"We kept the ball moving and opened them up and it was a deserved three points."
Gray, who scored for the fifth time in four league outings, added: "We'd have been hanging ourselves if we'd only got a draw."
