A teenager who breached an anti-social behaviour order and stole a car has been sentenced to four months in a young offender institution.
Magistrates in Dewsbury imposed the order on the 14-year-old Mirfield boy last November.
The order - which was intended to run for two years - restricted his behaviour and banned him from entering or remaining in the buildings or grounds of Mirfield Free Grammar School and Oldbank Junior and Infant School in Mirfield.
The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was convicted by Dewsbury Magistrates of taking a vehicle without the owner's consent and being in breach of the order.
He was sentenced to four months detention and training at a young offender institution for each charge, to run concurrently, and disqualified from driving for 12 months for driving without a licence and insurance.
Chief Inspector Nadeem Butt, Kirklees community safety officer, said: "This sends out a strong message to people who are going to commit anti-social behaviour that when an order is in place they must comply with it. It is not to be taken lightly. If they do not comply, the courts will take a hard line."
