A sex attacker who preyed on young women in isolated spots across Bradford was today warned he could be jailed for life.

Nicholas Daniel Wright pleaded guilty to three charges of attempted rape when he appeared before the city's Crown Court today.

The slim, blond-haired 19-year-old, who is more than six ft tall, spoke only to admit the allegations which took place on April 20, July 13 and August 24 last year.

Judge Roger Scott ordered that a further charge relating to the theft of women's underwear be left to lay on file.

Around the time police were hunting Wright, the Telegraph & Argus mounted a massive poster campaign appealing for the public's help following ten attacks throughout the Baildon, Bingley, Shipley and Rawdon areas.

The incidents had raised widespread concern throughout the district and police warned women not to venture out at night alone.

Following an extensive inquiry and investigations by forensic experts, detectives arrested Wright at his parents' home in Scott Lane, Riddlesden, Keighley, in October last year. Since that time his has been held in prison on remand, making several appearances in the Magistrates and Crown courts.

Today his friends and family packed into the public gallery of court room 3 alongside one of Wright's victims.

Dressed in a blue sweatshirt and jeans, and with his hands clasped behind his back, Wright nodded gently as the judge set a date for his sentencing.

And he told Wright: "There is a chance you could get a custody for life sentence."

Judge Scott adjourned the case until March 14 so that pre-sentence and psychiatric reports could be compiled.

He said that these would help establish if Wright posed a long-term threat to women.
