Danny Cadamarteri is set to feature for City's reserves tomorrow night.

Cadamarteri has been unable to play since early November because of tendinitis in his knee.

He has been carefully monitored as City put off an operation which would wipe him out for up to a year.

There were fears he might have to go under the knife after feeling some pain in a practice match last week. But that has now died down and after training yesterday he could be involved in the second-string game against Everton at Widnes.

Physio Steve Redmond said: "Danny will probably have a little bit of something there for a few weeks and when he plays a game he won't be able to train the day after.

"But that is the case with other players like Craig Bellamy and it's just a case of striking the right balance.

"It's understandable people get jittery when he has a slight setback and feel we should do something. If a player has surgery then it puts everyone's mind at rest but we are seeing if it will clear up with rehabilitation.

"Danny did some light training yesterday and all being well he could play some part for the reserves, maybe for a half."

Cadamarteri last appeared as a substitute against Wimbledon on November 9 but had been playing through the pain.

If Cadamarteri does end up having surgery, he would be unlikely to play again in 2003.

Meanwhile, Paul Evans, currently on loan with Blackpool, has been named in a 28-man Wales squad for their friendly against Bosnia-Herzegovina at Cardiff on February 12.
