The day the bollards went up in Broadstone Way to cut the road toll was the day trade at the local chip shop fell by 30 per cent, one of the partners told the Local Valuation Panel in Bradford yesterday. Mr Tom Frank was appealing for a cut in the rates from the present gross value of £330 (rateable value £250 ) for their premises in Broadstone Way's parade of shops. But the Panel decided not to allow any reduction, although the chairman, Mr Albert Robinson said that "they had every sympathy with the shopkeeper".
