Bradford Dudley Hill put in a brilliant display at Widnes St Maries to go into the third round of the National Cup , scoring top quality tries in their 36-8 win.
Hill went behind early on when they were caught offside in front of their posts but from then on it was all one-way traffic as they ran in three first-half tries, two for Liam Jarvis and one for Chris Robinson.
The second half continued in the same vein with another four tries. The pick of them was a set-up by prop John Vaicekauskas who raced 60 metres to the ten-metre line. From the play-the-ball, Ryan Dickinson found brother Sean whose neat inside found Mark Ackroyd in support to score.
At the after-match presentation, Widnes St Maries' former Great Britain scrum half Bobby Goulding was full of praise for Hill. He said: "When we heard we had drawn Dudley Hill we were well pleased. It would give us a chance to see how far we had come playing against a famous club that is renowned throughout the amateur game. "They played some fantastic rugby and were worthy winners.
"In centre Alex Dickinson they have a gem of a player but it goes right through the team. We got a call during the week from Victoria Rangers to tell us to watch the half backs but they didn't mention the wingers who both ran in two tries.
"Our aim at this club is to emulate the likes of Dudley Hill whose record speaks for itself."
Birkenshaw sauntered into the third round following their 17-10 win at home to Warrington-based Bank Quay Bulls.
Birky led 10-2 at the break with tries from wingman Owen Buckley and loose forward Ash Dowie plus a Matt Gowland conversion.
Second row forward Paul Bancroft scored under the posts on the restart leaving Gowland an easy two but the full back then blotted his copybook when he was sent off for fighting.
The Bulls took advantage to score two tries but veteran Phil Smith landed a drop goal to make doubly sure of a home tie against Kells in the next round.

They scored nine tries through Steve Bland (2), Sam Parkinson (2), Paul Kubanski (2), Mark Gay, Ben Southgate and Dave Williams. Darren Ellerton kicked four goals.
West Bowling A Premier Division aspirations suffered a set back after the 26-24 home defeat at the hands of Crigglestone All Blacks. Bowling looked to be well in control following touchdowns from Paul Priestley, Chris Scott and Bob Benn plus a try and four goals from Domenic Brambani but the Wakefield visitors took the points late in the game.
In Division Two, Queensbury A centre Rashid Mahmood proved unstoppable scoring four superb touchdowns in their 38-0 home win over Keighley Albion A. Neil Hobson, Steve Simpson, Andy Barraclough and Steve Senior joined him on the try list and Matt Wolski kicked three conversions.
West Bowling B have not had much to shout about in their Division Five campaign, but they put in a tremendous performance to win 13-12 at top-of-the-table Drighlington. A try from Steve Gregory plus a try, two conversions and a drop goal from Craig Hillam did the trick for a rampant Bowling outfit.
Undercliffe came out on top 26-22 in the Division Four relegation derby against Wyke at Rawdon Meadows. Undercliffe hero was Gavin Jarvis who scored a hat-trick and Paul Stevens (2) and Liam Jordan also crossed the whitewash. Wyke full back Darren Barraclough had a mixed afternoon scoring two tries and earning himself ten minutes in the sin-bin for obstruction. Andy Grange (2) and Paul Coates with a try and a goal completed the scoring.
In the Yorkshire Youth Combination League Division Two, Queensbury Under-18s beat Ripley Raiders 22-0.
Bury's youngsters produced their best display of the season to outgun their Derby visitors with tries from Darren Greenwood, Simon Parkinson, Matt Flanagan, Tom Middleton and Danny Kelly.
