The Rev. Brandon Jackson, 42, Vicar of St. Peter's Shipley, since 1965, is to be the new Provost of Bradford Cathedral. He will also be Vicar of Bradford, one of the smallest parishes in the diocese. The Simeon Trustees, who are patrons of the living, made the appointment after holding a series of consultations in Bradford.

Suggested plans for a public house to be built on the Thorpe Edge estate, near Eccleshill, were submitted to Bradford Corporation Public Works Committee today by the City Architect, Mr W.C. Brown. Councillor Arnold Walker, deputy chairman, said: "There are no estimates of cost at this stage. We may decide on something different when it comes to building. The committee had a lengthy discussion on whether we should have a hotel or not, but the reccommendation was approved."
