The devastated widow of the man gunned down chasing armed robbers today spoke of the loss of her "shining star".

Naila Hussain, 34, from Heaton, was married to Tasawar, who was shot in the chest when he and his friend, Azram Hussain, chased and confronted armed robbers after they attacked a security guard at Madina Travel, in Lumb Lane, on Monday evening. He was left dying in the road in Jowett Street, near Thornton Road.

Today his young widow - the mother of his five-year-old daughter, Harisa, and three months pregnant with their second child - spoke for the first time of her shock and utter devastation at finding out her husband had been killed.

And she pleaded for his killers to be brought to justice.

Fighting back tears she said simply: "Tassy was the most important person in my life and I loved him so much.

"He was our life, both our lives. My life is so empty and unbearable without him now. All I want is my Tassy back."

The couple fell in love and got married in Bradford six years ago.

From the start 36-year-old Tasawar, known to all his friends as Tassy, was a devoted husband who mixed in well with Naila's six sisters and parents, she said.

"He was so looking forward to the birth of his second child but this child will now never see nor know how wonderful his father was," said Naila.

"He was so beautiful inside and out. How will I tell his children that he was murdered? His daughter asked "where is my daddy?

"What do I tell her, that he was murdered, shot dead?"

A constant stream of visitors have been paying their respects to the family and Naila urged people to come forward with information about her husband's death.

"I hate the people who took my shining star, the most wonderful husband, dad, brother, uncle in the world. My life is over without him. We just want these people caught. How could they do this? Please, anyone who has seen anything, please help us find these people."

Iftiqar Ali, 38, said his brother-in-law Tasawar was a brilliant person who would be lovingly remembered by everyone who knew him.

"He was a brilliant husband, father and father-to-be and a solid friend.

"To say we miss him is an understatement. Tassy was larger than life and not only in height. A person like him only comes along once in a while."

When asked about calls that Tasawar should receive a medal for bravery, his family said all they could think about was the devoted father and husband.

Naida Ali, his sister-in-law, fought back tears as she described Tasawar.

"He was loved to bits and we just can't believe what has happened. Naila's whole life has been turned upside down. Her husband has been taken away from her and we can't understand it.

"Tassy has gone from us, all we want now is to bring the killers to justice."
