Ilkley U-12s 28, Skipton U-12s 21
Ilkley took to the field still full of confidence following their Yorkshire Cup quarter-final defeat at the hands of Hull Ionians.
Captain for the day Lindsey, and his boys piled on the pressure from the start, and Ryan Cooper was first to score near the corner with assists from Russell, Mordy and Lindsay.
Skipton replied soon after, but Ilkley were straight back with a superb combined effort from the pack of Kellett, Armitage, Gillon and Arundell paving the way for lock Rhodes to power over the line.
The second-half saw Skipton fielding several over age players without consent, which made a difference to the scrum but still saw Gillon take several against the head as the pack outclassed their lesser opponents.
Cooper scored again to make the scores level, as Ilkley began to find difficulty in stopping Skipton's larger and faster players.
Wingers Jordan and Keogh were invaluable in scragging down the opposition wing attacks. With minutes to go Skipton's massive prop was close to the tryline when full-back Hobson once again lunged at his attacker enough to knock him over the touchline to avert an undoubted match winning try.
This spurred the Ilkley players on for one last effort and Cooper's kick down field was quickly followed up by Russell and Lindsay who consolidated until the forwards arrived.
The pack took over the ball with Armitage leading the charge. Skipton had nothing left to offer as the unstoppable prop charged over the line for the match winning try.
The final score flattered the opponents and they will have been nursing some tired muscles when they got to work on Monday.

Playing on a full size junior pitch and with 13 players for the first time they revelled in the extra space to score seven good tries.

Ilkley continued to play open rugby in the second-half and the tries continued to come through Patrick Gibbons, Matthew Worrall and Patrick Burns.
Two were converted by Richard Evans and Matthew Worrall. Evans, new to the club this year, was named as Man-of-the-Match for a busy and efficient performance.
