Working for the Royal Engineering Corps he remembers the heavy bombing around London, while Amy recalls her time working in munitions.
Ronald was mainly based in London, but also but went to France and Germany during his five years with the army.
Afterwards, they settled in Stockbridge and Ronald became a foreman at Joe Tattersley's.
They have a son Geoffrey and a daughter Christine, three grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Ronald was the Shepherds Friendly Society branch secretary for 52 years in Leeds.
The couple will celebrate their diamond anniversary with a party at Keighley Cricket Club, where they enjoy watching matches when they can.
As to the secret of 60 years of marriage, Ronald says: "We discussed everything and we talked our problems over. It's sharing things together."
