AN art student has picked up South Craven School's own version of the Turner Prize.
Seventeen-year-old Freya Stansfield has been studying for AVCE Art and Design for two years and entered the competition, which recognises the work of sixth form students.
The other shortlisted candidates were Joe Ewen, Jenny Robinson and Gayle Wilson, and deputy headteacher Graham Turner announced the winner at an open evening on Monday
Freya, who will receive a prize from Dixon Target, said: "I really enjoy researching the work of other artists and take inspiration from people such as Frida Kahlo and Henry Moore."
Freya is looking forward to a trip to New York organised by South Craven School and is hoping to complete a foundation course before studying an art-related degree.
