Bradford Bulls will design, produce, market and sell their own merchandise, it was confirmed today.

The club took this unprecedented step after the £1m contract with original supplier Logitog was terminated last week due to delays in delivering merchandise.

In an effort to ensure kits are available for fans in time for the start of the Homecoming Season the Bulls have rejected offers from other manufacturers, opting instead to do it themselves.

"Since we brought the Logitog contract to an end we have been inundated with calls from companies, including some household names, wanting to become our official merchandise supplier, and the amount of interest has been very flattering," said chairman Chris Caisley, who confirmed that the Bulls were taking legal action against the north-east-based manufacturer.

"Within reason we always try to deliver what the club's supporters want. Sometimes this is not possible, but on occasion you have to just get on and do it.

"Therefore, we have decided to produce our own brand of replica shirts which will enable us to keep the designs already in situ, run our own stores and produce a range of other leisurewear which will be geared to the needs of Bulls fans."

One of the main reasons the club have taken this unusual step is their unwillingness to bring in a new manufacturer and, therefore, a change in design at this late stage.

The black away strip has already been launched and sales have been impressive so far while the white shirts worn against Warrington have also been well received.

And with the launch of that home kit imminent it was decided that it would be "fairer on the fans" to stick to the designs already in place.

"We have moved quickly into an arrangement with manufacturers who will be producing several thousand replica shirts over the next few weeks," continued Caisley.

"I am confident that these will be on sale in advance of what is sure to be an atmospheric return to Odsal on March 9."

Logitog, who admitted there were some problems with the delivery of the kit, were informed that the deal was being terminated last week and the company are considering legal action against the Bulls.

Next week's Super League clash with St Helens at Knowsley Road on Friday has been made all ticket at the request of the local police.
