An alleged rape victim told a Court yesterday: "I just wanted to get away. I was scared, shaken, upset."
Andrew Garbutt, 18, of Vernon Road, Liversedge, has pleaded not guilty at Leeds Crown Court to raping the then 18-year-old woman on a path off Weetwood Lane on February 5 last year.
Prosecutor Richard Mansell told the jury on Monday that Garbutt boarded a taxi with the student, got out in Weetwood Lane and followed her down the path. He then hit her on the head with a stone and allegedly raped her.
Yesterday the jury heard from the victim, a student at Leeds University, who cannot be named for legal reasons.
The jury was told that following the alleged rape, Garbutt told her: "Don't worry, you won't be pregnant." He then said: "What just happened - I didn't just rape you, did I?" The woman allegedly replied: "No, I wanted it too."
Asked by Judge Roger Scott if this was true, she said: "No. I was scared. I didn't know what he would do - I just wanted to get away. I was scared, shaken, upset."
When she returned to her halls of residence, she visited a male friend's room.
"I asked him if I could lock the door and I think he realised something was wrong and he said 'What's wrong?' I said, 'I've just been raped' and I started crying."
She said her feet and legs were covered in mud and her head was "hurting a bit".
The following morning she went to Millgarth Police Station with her friend.
She said she had not washed. "I thought there might be evidence on my clothes," she said.
"I looked in the mirror when I got up in morning. It was slightly swollen around my forehead and starting to bruise. I had a few bruises on my arms and my foot was bruised quite a bit."
The woman accepted she had fallen in the nightclub and stumbled on the stairs but said she had not banged her head then or on the way home.
She said her head became painful towards night and she took some painkillers and put ice on it.
The jury was shown photographs of the woman's injuries, showing a swollen forehead and nose and yellow and black colouring under her eyes.
The jury was also shown video tape of possible routes taken by the taxi from the Bambu nightclub in Leeds, where the woman had spent the evening, to the spot it dropped her and the defendant in Weetwood Lane.
They also watched a video recording of the route up the muddy path where the alleged rape took place and another video of the route to the grounds of Moorlands School, where Garbutt claimed the pair had had consensual sex.
The woman said she recognised the path shown on the video but did not recognise Moorlands School.
Mr Mansell asked the woman: "Did the sexual act take place close to a building like that?"
The woman replied: "No."
The trial continues.
