Wayne Cooper hasn't let the grass grow under his feet since quitting the professional snooker ranks last summer.
The 23-year-old from East Bowling has been made favourite to win the Bradford Amateur Championships.
A member at The Clubhouse In Cue Gardens at Odsal Top, Cooper has already made breaks of 116 and 101 in reaching the quarter-finals, where he faces Richard Duffield (Great Horton Con Club).
Cooper has already beaten former winner Richard Brooke 4-1, and the other mouth-watering tie in the last eight is between former finalist Howard Mawson (Regal Snooker Club) and Paul Benn (Harold Club).
Cuedos Snooker Club in Allerton could provide the other two semi-finalists as Hanif Rafiq faces Paul Jackson (Lilycroft WMC), and Bulver Singh meets Darren Milner (East Ward Labour Club).
Singh saw off holder and clubmate Waheed Khan 4-1 in the first round, which was also the stage Kevin Firth fell to John Wellham.
The best-of-seven frame matches must be played by Saturday, March 23, and Cooper and Mawson are also still involved in the Bradford Snooker Pairs Championship, which is also down to the quarter-finals.
In the last round, Firth and David Stirk (Undercliffe Cricket Club) defeated holders Duffield and Bradford Billiards and Snooker Association secretary John McEachran (Great Horton Con Club) 3-0.
Bradford billiards has shown further signs of resurgence in the Moorhouse Shield.
For years it has attracted some ten teams, but this season the entry list went up to 16, with debutants Undercliffe Cricket Club already through to the last eight.
Paul Devitt (Lilycroft WMC) defeated Bradford team-mate Richard Lodge (Great Horton Cons A) in both legs of their contest as Lilycroft prevailed.
