Nicky Law is backing City's new breed as the tip of the iceberg.

The Bantams boss reckons Danny Forrest, Simon Francis and Lewis Emanuel are blazing a trail for the next generation of young talent.

Law, a firm believer in throwing in the youngsters, hopes the instant success of the teenage trio in the First Division will inspire other starlets to follow suit.

He said: "It sends out all the right signals. These lads have come in and not looked out of place and they will stay in the team on the strength of their performances.

"Now I'm looking at the likes of Tom Penford, Craig Bentham and Jake Wright and hoping that this time next year they will be in.

"It must be quite exciting for the young lads at the club knowing they will get a chance. Look at the nature of the players I've introduced Kearney, Standing, Gray and Reid are all younger types.

"That's the only way ahead and fans will identify with younger players. They haven't been used to this before because they haven't had a manager who will give the young ones their opportunity."

When City reached the Premiership and survived, they were saddled with a "Dad's Army" reputation because of the number of 30-somethings in the dressing room.

Now, with a number of the experienced players out of contract this summer, the average age will shoot right down next season.

Law added: "Bradford have never been known for playing young players. They have always bought the finished article.

"It must be refreshing for the supporters to see lads like Danny Forrest doing so well. I thought he was excellent in the Leicester game up against two bullies, Matt Elliott and Gerry Taggart.

"They knew afterwards they'd really been in a game which says a lot about Danny's progress."
