An item in a Bront Country gift shop has caused a few raised eyebrows among the canny Tykes and could even spark a cross-border feud.
Visitors to the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway spotted a rather unusual item among the local guide books, 'Thomas' toys and Bront souvenirs - a CD of Scottish jigs and reels by Glasgow accordion player Tom Alexander.
Subsequent investigations led to K&WVR volunteer Aileen Hindley, herself a Scot and an accomplished accordion player to boot.
She commented: "I thought I'd try and bring a bit of culture to the poor wee Yorkshire folk. If it is a success, we might even try some Jimmy Shand records or jolly souvenirs from Hadrian's Wall."
l Visitors to the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway will be able to dine in style following the launch of this year's season of prestigious White Rose Pullman and Sunday Lunch Trains.
Bookings are now being taken for the popular services.
K&WVR spokesman Mark Collinson said: "These dining trains have been running for nearly 20 years now and regular customers reckon they're even better than the Orient Express. Now with a second Pullman car and an additional buffet car set to enter traffic, along with a completely refurbished restaurant car, we certainly can't be accused of resting on our laurels."
Sunday Lunch Trains will be operating on March 30 (Mother's Day), April 20 (Easter Sunday) and May 11 (a 1940s special). A traditional Sunday lunch is served in a newly restored 1950s restaurant car.
White Rose Pullman dining trains operate on the evenings of June 21, July 12 and October 4. A six-course meal is served on board a 1930s Pullman Car.
A leaflet giving full details of this year's dining trains may be obtained by phoning 01535 645214 or by e-mailing admin@kwvr.co.uk.
l Thomas and his friends are visiting the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway on March 22 and 23.
Visitors will be able to ride behind 'Thomas' the full length of the railway, see 'Percy' in his live steam show at Keighley Station, and meet 'The Fat Controller' Sir Topham Hatt. There will also be live story telling, face painting, buffets and stalls serving a variety of refreshments, children's entertainers, and the chance to visit the Museum of Rail Travel at Ingrow.
Tickets are £10 for adults and £5 for children and may be purchased on the day of travel. They allow unlimited travel on all trains and access to all event sites on the railway.
