Bamber Bridge 1, Guiseley 0
THIS was a tale of two penalties - one that the hosts scored and one that Guiseley's Peter Atkinson had saved.
The first-half was a dour affair with few real chances
The best opportunity fell to centre-back Jon Wordsworth but he shot over the bar from just five yards out in the eighth minute.
Dave Henry then put a left foot shot wide but that was about all the chances there were in the first 45 minutes.
In the second-half play opened up a little and Alan Bailey had a right foot shot saved by the goalkeeper with his feet.
Gary Shaw then saw his header saved and Andy Shuttleworth shot over after Henry's free-kick had been scrambled away by the defence.
In the 68th minute Bamber Bridge took the lead when Phil Robinson converted a penalty conceded by Peter Atkinson.
The right-back got the chance to atone just three minutes later when Jez Baldwin handled on the line and was sent off.
Atkinson, stepping up in place of tonsillitis victim Mark Stuart, saw his effort saved.
In the 74th minute David Cooke had a header saved, Shaw hit the post in the 80th minute just to add to the Guiseley faithful's thoughts that they were never going to score.
Alan Bailey produced a final flourish but his shot was also saved and Guiseley were disappointed for the second time in a week.
Guiseley will be hoping to return to winning ways when they tackle Eastwood Town at nethermoor on saturday.
Eastwood are currently languishing second from bottom and are facing a bitter battle to avoid relegation.
