Rotherham 2 Keighley Albion 48 - Albion travelled down to Rotherham as they took up the promotion trail once more.
With their cup disappointments behind them they started the brighter of the two sides with Dean Brookes Ian Spencer Russ Meakin Stevie Cullen and Steve Wrench standing out in a solid defence.
Rotherham were struggling to get any forward momentum as good driving from the Albion forwards gave the half backs Brookes and Craig Livock the space they needed to open up the attack.
Cullen who went over first with a 30 metre effort.
Ben Farrar was having a good game but a late hit on a Rotherham player gifted them their only points of the game when the penalty was kicked.
After this it was all Albion. A quick tap penalty from Jimmy Feather saw good passing from Brookes and Andy Parker to release Livock.
Parker was involved again in the next score when his neat inside pass saw Wayne Smith sprint downfield and Feather's excellent support play saw him rewarded with the try. Albion finished the first half scoring when Brookes released Livock who in turn sent Cullen downfield and he unselfishly passed back to Livock who collected his brace to make it 22-2 at the break.
Albion opened the second half up with immediate scoring opportunities for Tom Holland and Jimmy Feather but the scores were disallowed after Feather was held up over the line and Holland could feel badly done to after the referee ruled the pass to him had been forward.
They soon increased their score as Farrar ran a nice angle onto an inside pass from Livock to score with Brookes adding the goal.
Brookes then worked the openings for Steve Cullen to add two further tries after some brilliantly timed running to secure his hat-trick. Brookes added one of the goals before he was again involved in the next play which Atkins had the strength and size to finish. Brookes added the goal to complete a comprehensive victory for Albion.
Albion travel to a much improved Emley Moor tomorrow. The second team entertain Barnsley side Dodworth at Burgess' Field.
Silsden Park Rangers 38
Moldgreen 18
Silsden got a scare from a struggling Moldgreen but five tries from man of the match Danny Horne secured Victory for the Cobbydalers.
Horne broke the deadlock after collecting a quick pass from top tackler Neil Jordan. Chris Langdale added the extra points, but only just, as the ball bounced off the cross bar.
Horne extended Silsden's lead with slick wing play between himself and Phil Lane and again Langdale converted.
Silsden continued to pressure the Moldgreen line but were unable to complete moves giving the visitors the confidence they needed for their big prop forward to push through for two tries in the dying minutes of the first half to level at 12-12.
Silsden pulled away slightly when Langdale made the gap for Mark Adams to score. Moldgreen hit back with a chip over the defence to score next to the posts. The conversion put the under-strength Moldgreen two points ahead.
Horne regained the lead after collecting an awkward up and under and Langdale slotted the extras. Silsden were awarded a penalty for offside 10 yards out and Horne scored his fourth try.
Silsden extended their lead when Adams opened up the defence for Geoff Bowness to run over. Horne finished the off the afternoon with a break down the wing to compete his haul of tries.
Tomorrow (Saturday) they area at home to Todmorden. Kick-off 2.30 pm.
Keighley Town 10
Halifax Irish 14
Town saw another lead slip away in the last 15 minutes of the game.
The Keighley side started brightly, commanding long periods of possession and after 15 minutes Daz McNulty launched a high bomb into the corner. The ball was fumbled by the Irish fullback and Andy Stokes was on hand to gather and score in the corner.
The conversion was missed and scrum half Neil Kennedy had to be replaced following a hand injury with evergreen Dave Lewis taking his place.
It was Lewis who set up Town's second try following good build-up play by forwards Joe Jeng, Dale Spencer, Paul turner and man of the match Darren Lynam. They had taken play to within 15 yards of the Halifax line and a great delayed pass by Lewis saw Chris Ellison slice through the defence to score near the posts. McKay added the extras to give Town a 10-0 lead.
However, Halifax were not going to be outshone and on 35 minutes they hit back with a converted try to keep in tough 10-6 at the break.
Most of the second half was played in the middle of the park with Dale Spencer, Darren Lynam and Quinton Sneed all putting in huge tackle counts.
In the last 15 minutes Halifax drew level and snatched a late unconverted try to steal victory.
Cowling Harlequin 66
Wyke A 12
Revenge is seldom as sweet as this as Cowling Harlequin trounced Wyke as payback for a snatched victory when they lost to Wyke away 24 to 18 earlier in the season.
Captain Tom McAndrew opened the scoring for Cowling after less than a minute with a powerful forward's try, goaled by Darren Greenwood. Wyke answered with a try from Paul Ratcliffe but Wyke failed to add the conversion.
Cowling appeared to be all at sea and could not get their act together and after 27 tackles within their 10 metre area they conceded another try to Steve Foster. The next six minutes saw full back Jimmy Anson mesmerise the entire Wyke team and romp through to touch down three times with just one goal added.
Minutes later hooker Ben Clements burst through and crossed for Cowling with Darren Greenwood adding the extras to give the South Craven side a 26-8 half time lead.
Anson launched the second half with his fourth and Darren Greenwood goaled and followed up with a penalty. Rob McAndrew scored a fine try and again Greenwood slotted the extras.
It was Dave Needham's turn next and with Greenwood in fine kicking form it was looking very bad for Wyke. Substitute Daniel Wood pinched one for Wyke, but with just 12 minutes to go and Cowling ahead by 44-12 the spirit evaporated from the Wyke team. Anson surged forward again, claiming his fifth, followed rapidly by a great try from Richard Curtin a cracker from Darren Greenwood and a sixth for Anson.
Greenwood kicked three out of the four conversions and took his total for the day up to 22 points just beaten by Jimmy Anson's magnificent six-try romp and total of 24 points.
This week Harlequin are away to Greetland A, kick off 2.30.
