Ilkley Dynamo 2 , Otley Wharfeside 1
The quarter finals of the suplementary cup was not an ideal comeback game for Otley who hadn't played in five weeks.
With the new management team in place changes were made mainly Jackson moving to left wing and Gary Price making his full debut in central midfield.
Otley were slow to start but the back four of Aneja, Pinder,Hoey and J Lees held strong.
Otley began to find their feet and looked dangerous with so much pace going foward but failed to find a telling pass to give Pullan or Ashley a real chance.
Otley's only real chances came from Ashley and Price free kicks both missing by inches.
The midfield worked hard but struggled to get a grip.
Otley went a goal down after some poor communication let a ball sail across three Wharfeside players to a Dynamo foward for the simple finish.
Beadnell replaced Birch, who worked hard but was often isolated on the wing. Pullan was soon replaced by Penniall after picking up a knock in a tackle.
Otley looked to find a way back and worked hard particularly down the wings with Penniall and Beadnell linking well.
Just as Otley seemed to be getting the upper hand a freak goal ended Otley's hopes.
A shot going wide struck an unsuspecting referee, the ball shooting across the goal, Wilkinson could only palm it out and left Ilkley with a tap in. Heads dropped and Otley were in a real battle.
Richard Lees replaced Price and looked lively on the wing forcing chances and looking to put Otley back in it.
It was however another comedy goal which proved Otley's consolation.
A deep cross evaded four Wharfeside fowards and four Stewart out wide.
He rounded the floundering keeper, shot back across goal and a combination of the wind and a defender knocked the ball it in.
Otley continued to push hard but to no avail.
Otley play host to Station Wanderers this week. Players to meet 9am at Wharfemeadows.
