Tockwith 1, lkley 1

A hard-earned draw for Ilkley against opponents who harbour their own ambitions of a championship challenge, keeps their Harrogate League title hopes very much alive.

This was, however, a limp performance by Ilkley after the two previous top-of the-table games against Kirkby Malzeard and Burley.

Without ever looking under threat, Ilkley permitted the home side to take the lead after 30 minutes.

A misplaced pass by Bloom led to Wilson being played into the box and his low shot nestled into the far corner of the net.

It was the first and only shot Tockwith had all half and was a severe reminder to Ilkley players that ability has to be matched by effort and concentration.

The response was positive and Ilkley should have been in front before half-time when Hall had two good chances to score.

Running clear on to Hoyle's flick, he placed his shot wide of goalkeeper Ord and the near post, and then headed over from six yards from Richardson's cross.

After a half-time chat that reinforced the need to work harder collectively and made some tactical changes,

Ilkley began the second-half more purposefully with Knox finding space on the right and Tweddle adding more bite to midfield.

Thankfully, the deserved equaliser came on the hour when a determined 30-yard run by Hogg was abruptly ended by Driver's trip.

Hoyle despatched the penalty and Ilkley stepped up the tempo to search for a winner.d touch.

On Saturday, Ilkley suspend league duties to play Kirkby Malzeard in the Senior Cup at West Holmes (KO 2.30pm). Players meet at the cricket club at 1.30pm.
