Tennis: Yorkshire's 18 and under girls have retained their national title, dropping only two rubbers at Welwyn.
They defeated Middlesex and Cambridgeshire 9-0 and Surrey 7-2.
It meant a winning debut for Anne Meredith as girls' captain, and all eight players were used, including Keighley's Jennifer Nemeth, Rawdon member Linsey Jacks, Huddersfield duo Danielle Brown and Alice Mackenzie and Halifax Queens member Lauren Dossor.
Alice and Hull's Katie O'Brien made a special effort to be available after tournaments abroad. Other team members were Victoria Sharpley and Joanna Craven.
On the first day, Craven made an impressive debut to put Yorkshire in the lead and Sharpley made it 2-0, despite injuring a shoulder in the first set.
She rested against Cam-bridgeshire, Dossor coming in, and Craven and Dossor won their singles to help Yorkshire lead 2-0. Brown's gutsy three-set victory against Surrey was vital.
The under-18 boys won two of their three matches at Bolton Arena to stay in Group Two.
