A 22-year-old man has been jailed for a total of six years after he attacked a gay man in a Bradford nightclub.
Samuel Smith hit Darren Layton with a bottle after snatching a mobile phone from him in Chaplin's nightclub, Duke Street.
Mr Layton needed four stitches in a head wound following the attack in October 2001.
Smith, of Park Drive, Heaton, Bradford, denied robbery and wounding with intent, but a jury at Bradford Crown Court returned unanimous guilty verdicts on both charges after a trial last December.
Judge Geoffrey Kamil told Smith it was an offence that was targeted at someone who was gay.
He said the courts took a serious view of all offences of that kind.
Smith, who has previous convictions for violence, shouted abuse as he was led from the dock.
