A pianist is preparing to tickle the ivories for 15 hours to raise money for her church and help people battle breast cancer.

Angie Brown, pictured, of Willow Park Drive, Shelf, will play in a sponsored "Pianothon" at Great Horton Methodist Church on Saturday.

She is hoping to raise £1,000 to be divided between church funds and the Breast Cancer Campaign as some of her friends are being treated for the disease.

Mrs Brown, who has played the piano for more than 50 years, decided on the challenge after completing a musical marathon on the piano ten years ago.

"I did 12 hours last time and I am sure I can go on a bit longer," she said.

"It is most enjoyable so long as lots of people come and listen."

She will start at 9am and will play classical numbers by Bach and Strauss before moving onto Cole Porter show songs and some old time sing-a-long numbers.

With five-minute breaks every hour, she will play until 9pm, completing the Pianothon at home in the early hours.

"The neighbours are all invited," added Mrs Brown who is a former teacher at Netherlands Avenue School in Bradford.

"I'm sure there will be a bit of a party."
