A MUM of three from Wharfedale is to endure a 'Chinese torture' to raise money for a cancer charity.
Pauline Brown, 43, is in training for a 100-kilometre sponsored walk along the Great Wall of China in May.
Mrs Brown, who works at the Cancer Research shop on The Grove, Ilkley, will travel to China with her friend and former co-worker Wendy Berger, of Gargrave.
The pair will be taken to different stages of the wall during the 10-day trip of a lifetime where they hope to complete the walk and raise a total of £5,000 for Cancer Research between them.
Mrs Brown, who says she is not the world's greatest rambler, is beginning to get in serious training for the feat.
She said: "I am not a regular walker but I have broken in my new boots by walking from Addingham to Ilkley.
"I will now have to start some heavy training. It will be a bit rough and ready but I am determined to succeed come what may and blisters or no blisters."
Mrs Brown, of Addingham, has been fundraising in Ilkley and will hold a charity dinner and auction at the Craiglands Hotel on Saturday, March 15.
He has already sold 70 tickets but her target is 400.She has contributed her own expenses for the trip so any money raised will go towards vital funds for the charity. Anyone who can help should telephone Mrs Brown, of Hodgson Fold, on (01943) 830036.
