Otley teenagers staged an anti-war protest in the town centre on Sunday.

Following the temporary suspension last week of Prince Henry's students for trying to stage a school walk out, pupils held an alternative protest outside school hours.

After meeting in the Market Place, they marched around the town with placards.

Sixth formers Sachin Sharma, 19, and Carey Dav-ies, 16, were suspended from the school for three days last week after making anti war speeches in front of 200 pupils during the lunch break.

They said they wanted pupils to leave classes in protest as part of a nationwide student protest, but the school said it could not condone such action.

The two pupils are now back in school after making national headlines late last week.

Meanwhile, Prince Henry's students Abbi Stackhouse, 16 and Michael Wakefield were yesterday due to go to London with Otley woman Jane Pickup to take part in the People's Assembly for Peace at Westminster Hall.

The small contingent was sent by the Otley Stop the War Group.

l Peace campaigners are due to set up a peace camp outside Menwith Hill listening station this weekend. The camp will run from Friday to Sunday and will return on the third weekend of every month.
