On Sunday morning, four members of Otley Athletic Club participated in the East Hull 20. Over a mainly flat course but in blustery conditions with very little shelter from the strong wind, Ian Fisher won the race for a successive year in 114.38.
Mark Hall finished second in a new club veteran over 40 record of 117.22 and Julian Mawson finished fifth in 120.56, breaking his own personal best for the distance by almost ten minutes.
Unsurprisingly, based on these results, this Otley trio won the team event as well.
Also competing in the field of 400 runners was club President, Dave Hainsworth, and Dave was happy to complete the course in 160.20.
Andrew Robertshaw travelled to Millom, Cumbria, to compete in the Black Combe Fell Race which is nine miles long and includes 3,800 feet of climbing. Andrew finished an excellent sixth position in 79.42.
On Saturday afternoon, four members took part in the Dent 14 mile road race which even in good weather conditions is challenging enough, however on this occasion the persistent rain and stretches of standing water made competing even more difficult.
Nevertheless, Dale Foster continued his good form finishing fourth in 83 minutes, a drenched Tom Hannah finished in 109.24 minutes, Phil Robinson in 111.48 minutes and Don Buffham followed soon after.
This coming weekend sees a good proportion of the membership enjoying the annual training weekend at Patterdale Hall, Cumbria.
Otley AC welcomes runners of all standards to join them in training from Otley RUFC every Tuesday and Thursday evening commencing at 7.15pm.
