Pupils at a Bradford school came out on "strike" today in support of their teachers, as the joint action on sanctions by the teachers' union began to bite harder. Teenagers in a picket-line of about 100 outside Wyke Manor Upper School announced: "We are staying out all week". The pupils, aged between 12 and 16, walked out of their classes at the school soon after 10 a.m. when they heard that meals would not be served in the school.

A firm in the Argentine is attempting to appropriate for its exclusive use the name of "Halifax", as its trade mark. Notification came in a letter from the Export Group of the National Wool Textile Executive, Bradford. The letter states that the firm, Dagotex RD Ltd., hoped to use the trade mark to cover processed and knitted fabrics. Mr. E. Ollerenshaw, president of the Halifax Chamber of Commerce, said, "We are fortunate in having people watching our interests. Such things as this want killing at birth".
