Councillors in a moor-top village are fighting proposed boundary changes which would see their homes moved from a rural Bingley to a Bradford ward.
Denholme Town Council is against the proposals by the Boundary Committee for England, under which the village would move from Bingley Rural ward to Thornton ward.
A public meeting about the issue takes place on Monday.
The proposals are part of draft plans to change the borders of all 30 council wards in Bradford. The public are being asked for their views before the final decision is made.
The review aims to give each ward roughly the same number of electors - they are currently unequal.
For instance, each councillor in University ward represents 25 per cent more electors than in the average Bradford ward. Town Mayor Anne Jay said town councillors were unhappy about the plan to move Denholme.
"We think we are a uniquely rural community and we have different needs to those in other areas," she said.
"There are all sorts of minor issues that build up into quite a major impact on the area that the Town Council is exceedingly concerned about."
Coun Jay said they were particularly worried that the ward change would see the town moved from the jurisdiction of the Shipley Area Co-ordinator's office to the Bradford West office.
She said the change would mean some types of funding would come from the Bradford West pot, rather than Shipley's.
"We know our deprivation is different to the deprivation in their areas," she said.
As well as a public meeting, the Town Council has organised a petition which is being circulated around the area.
Deputy Bradford Council leader Simon Cooke (Con, Bingley Rural) said he was broadly in agreement that Denholme should remain in his ward.
"I think it's important that local people actually look at the boundary proposals and I welcome the fact that the Town Council is making representations."
Comments on the proposals, which are on display in City Hall, can be made until April 7 by writing to the Boundary Committee for England, Trevelyan House, Great Peter Street, London, SW1P 2HW.
The public meeting is on Monday at Denholme Mechanics Institute, Main Street, at 7pm.
