TORRENTIAL rain on Friday and Saturday virtually wiped out the sports programme. Those that did manage to get in a game were left to wallow in the mud.
Our picture, by Stephen Garnett, shows Skipton captain Adam Olfield on the charge at Sandylands, where Malton and Norton were the visitors. The conditions did not suit Skipton, who were on the back foot throughout and were beaten 15-0.
In football only three matches survived, one of them at Chatburn where Skipton LMS went through in the Northern Plant Hire Trophy with a 7-3 victory.
There was better fortune for junior sport on Sunday and pride of place goes equally to Wharfedale's under-15 rugby side, who reached the final of the Yorkshire Cup, and Silsden's under-14 footballers, who reached the final of the West Riding County FA Cup.
Prospects for the weekend seem much better with some key games.
Wharfedale travel to Nottingham as their relegation battle gets down to the wire. Ribb too are in desperate need of points and travel to Pontefract while Skipton travel to Beverley.
There's a full programme of football scheduled, with cup and league matches.
