A man suffered serious head injuries after his car crashed into a old trolley post in Bradford today.

The 27-year-old driver is believed to have suffered internal head injuries and a fractured left shoulder after his Vauxhall Corsa left the road and collided with the post on Allerton Road near to Prune Park Lane at 1.37am.

The man, on his own in the Silver R-registered car, was spotted in the vehicle by a passing motorist.

The driver was taken to Bradford Royal Infirmary and doctors were today deciding whether he should be moved to a specialist unit in Leeds for treatment.

The force of the crash brought down some telephone lines on the post.
