Rugby Union: A high scoring game was full value for a big crowd as each team had spells of dominance but two tries in as many minutes in the second half put Otley in the driving seat and though there was a minor wobble late on when Bedford came within six points Simon Binns calmed all fears with a penalty.
The fly half scored a trade mark try on 61 minutes to regain the lead and had a good day with the boot, kicking two penalties and four conversions with the fifth from the touchline.
Otley opened the scoring with a 35-metre drive after only four minutes when Dennis Hazelton crashed over but Bedford, whose four tries all came from close-in line-outs, struck back with touchdowns from hooker Cramer Ronaki, centre Spencer Brown and fly half Ali Hepher.
Rob Whatmuff cut through at pace to go in at the posts but penalties either side of half-time had Bedford back in the lead, but following the Binns' try the restart was claimed and the ball spun out to Mark Kirkby who raced in from 60 metres.
A late try claimed by replacement scrum half Andy Holloway ruffled the Otley feathers but Binns made sure with a penalty which put them nine points clear.
