Garforth Town 2, Thackley 0: Thackley had keeper Aaron Brian dismissed just before the hour and were further punished when the resulting penalty was netted to leave them with ten men and two goals down.
East Leeds side Garforth may be struggling in the Northern Counties East Premier Division but they always rise to their Leeds/Bradford derbies. They beat Thackley 3-0 in the reverse fixture at Dennyfield.
"I am devastated because we were absolutely awful," admitted Thackley assistant manager John Boyle, who was in charge of team affairs in the absence of boss Andy Taylor for personal reasons.
"Garforth completely deserved to beat us, there was no luck involved. But what hurt me was that we were so poor their supporters were lapping it up at the end. Our players should be distraught at that.
"Aaron was a bit naive doing what he did but it wasn't that which cost us the game. In all honesty we played better in the last ten minutes with ten men, we can't blame the sending off."
Thackley had created chances to open the scoring but Garforth claimed two goals in a four-minute spell just before the hour to ensure all three points.
In the 53rd minute Andy Moores slotted a shot past Brian after a slide rule pass by Mick Amos. Brian was put under pressure by a poor back pass but did not need to haul Gareth Hamlet down on the edge of the area.
It was Amos who stepped up to drill the spot-kick past stand-in keeper Adam Tye.
