Bradford's pop sensation Gareth Gates is celebrating his fourth chart-topper today after his charity single in aid of Comic Relief stormed into the Top 40 at number one.
The hit single, Spirit in the Sky, which features television characters the Kumars, knocked American singer Christina Aguilera's song Beautiful off the top spot.
Gareth performed the single throughout a busy, high-profile weekend, singing it live with the Kumars on the BBC's Comic Relief television extravaganza on Friday evening, again on BBC1's children's programme The Saturday Show, and on ITV's Ant and Dec's Takeaway show on Saturday evening.
Spirit in the Sky is Gareth's fourth Number One single since he shot to fame on ITV's Pop Idol a year ago. His first chart-topper was Unchained Melody, followed by Anyone Of Us and The Long and Winding Road, a duet with Will Young.
