Saucy lingerie and naughty toys are set to arrive in Bradford - with the opening of a new Ann Summers' store in the city.

The firm that brought naughty negligees to the High Street is currently hunting for a site in Bradford City Centre and is looking at the White Rose Centre for a second site.

The company, run by highly charismatic boss Jacqueline Gold, is already looking for management to run the stores.

The opening date has yet to be revealed but the stores should be up and running within months.

The Ann Summers group, which also encompasses the Knickerbox chain, had a gross turnover of £85 million in 2001 and 2002.

It now runs 77 stores in the UK and opened its first store in Spain last year.

A spokesman for the company said: "When we look to open new stores we seek high profile areas or shopping centres and high streets where the party plan networks are very successful.''

He added: "We focus on the female customer and as a consequence our stores are bright and airy and we concentrate primarily on lingerie and sexy toys."

The spokesman said the expansion of the group - including the new stores in Bradford and Leeds - was a sign of the liberation of women across all sectors of the community.

"Women are more confident about going shopping, work and every element of their lives - they ask for what they want these days," the spokesman said.

Ms Gold started in her father's business as a junior at the age of 21 and rose through the ranks to become chief executive trying to take the business upmarket along the way.

She focused the company on party planners - exclusively for women - and saw turnover rocket.
