IF it's made in Yorkshire, chances are that it can be found in a new outlet in Bolton Abbey.
This week saw the official opening of The Pantry on the estate of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire.
The Marquess and Marchioness opened the new shop yesterday (Thursday) and invited several guests along to sample the culinary delights of Yorkshire produce.
These range from Wensleydale cheeses, Yorkshire tea and biscuits, fresh bread, eggs and milk, to frozen ready meals, drinks, honey, puddings, soup, green olives and smoked trout.
The estate's latest venture has created the look of an old-fashioned shop, and yet caters for a 21st century lifestyle. The look has been achieved by retail operations manager Mark Simister who feels there is something there for locals and visitors alike.
Ben Heyes, agent for the estate, said: "I am delighted we have, with our trustees' support, been able to reverse a trend so soon after the far-reaching effects of foot and mouth disease.
"Furthermore, through this shop, we hope to be able to illustrate the association of some of the most beautiful parts of our county with our basic requirement, food."
Visitor manager Moira Smith said that where possible the food in the shop - a former estate worker's office - comes from Yorkshire, and the ultimate goal is to have more locally produced food on sale as it is becomes available.
