A REFEREE'S 'summit' is to be held at Cougar Park on Thursday in an attempt to solve the crisis hitting local league football.
Bob Faley, head of referee development for the West Riding Football Association will speak on the topic "Refereeing - Where next?" taking a look at referee shortages, some of the possible causes and the way forward for referees and clubs.
"We want to retain officials already in the game to stay and then build up the number of officials in our district," said Simon Todd, secretary of the Keighley & District Referees' Association.
Bob Faley has refereed at every level from the grass roots through to the football league and European matches before taking up his present job.
The meeting has been organised by the Referees' Association and over 50 local clubs have been invited to attend together with officials of local leagues and the Keighley Football Association. Any players or others interested in football are also invited to attend.
The meeting will take place in the VIP Suite at Cougar Park at 8pm on Thursday (March 27).
"It will certainly be an interesting talk, followed by an open discussion and we hope to see as many people as possible there," Simon Todd said.
